There is an imaginary place called Loco. Loco is not just a name for a place; it’s a word for at least a dozen places: a village in the mountains, a quiet river, a swaying train, a laughing and crying cloud, a fond craziness, a word in a foreign dialect, an undiscovered irrational number, a nighttime banquet, a walk in the snow, a global embrace, a ripening fruit, and much more. People travel to Loco to momentarily forget where they come from and where they wish to go.

Loco comes into being when Quartetto Loco plays. Their music is both crazy and normal, dissonant yet harmonious, familiar and foreign. It emerges from the flickering between the knowledge of one’s roots and the letting go of those roots. It’s the freedom of forgetting and the richness of remembering.

This first EP, with seven pieces, offers a glimpse into the musical place we call Loco. From free improvisation to twisted natural yodeling, from meditative original compositions to an individual interpretation of a short piece by Anton Webern, it is a journey through this imaginary landscape.

The EP is titled “a dozen words for seven” because just as Loco is not just a word for one place but for at least a dozen, this EP is also “a dozen words for seven”
